This Callanwolde Fine Arts Center Wedding was full of amazing architecture, cultural traditions, and KPOP music! The mansion of the community center is more than 100 years old and boasts medieval details on the exterior and old-world craftmanship in the interior. The walnut floors, grand stairway, and limestone arches made the perfect backdrop for Jaime and Linh’s Atlanta wedding.
Jaime and Linh met during their university days in Athens through a mutual friend. Their shared love for cats, Netflix, and K-pop fueled their relationship early on and ultimately lead to them creating their own YouTube channel!
While searching for a wedding venue, Callanwolde Fine Arts Center checked all of their boxes. The beautiful architecture along with the small details such as the venue’s Asian themed room made it feel like the perfect space for their Atlanta wedding.
The venue’s grand stairway made the perfect spot for both Jaime’s first look with her dad as well as with Linh! It was a dramatic yet intimate backdrop for these sweet moments together before the festivities. I just loved taking photos around the staircase.
The couple shares how it was important to tap into their Asian culture for the overall wedding theme. This traditionally includes red and gold as lucky colors, but the couple added colors of rich burgundy, blush, and lots of glowing lights to create a romantic vibe. The day prior, the couple held a traditional Vietnamese ceremony too.
The couple’s first dance was definitely a highlight for everyone. They dance to a choreographed K-pop routine which was a fun, unexpected surprise for their guests.
A special surprise was the couple’s outfit change part way through the reception. Jaime changed into a traditional Vietnamese dress (ao dai) and Linh wore a Chinese outfit as a representation of each other’s culture. The red and gold popped nicely during the remainder of the night.
Cats are a big part of their life so Jaime and Lihn made sure to incorporate their fur babies into the day with cat cutouts for the photo booth! It was a huge hit and their guests had so much fun with the cutouts!
Jaime and Linh shared their advice for couples planning a wedding:
“Don’t let other people’s opinions bring you down. Just remember that your wedding day is supposed to be about you and your person–NOT about anyone else. Don’t feel the need to please everyone. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience and you and your partner should enjoy it however YOU guys want.”
This was an amazing wedding to capture! I absolutely love all of the little details this couple incorporated into their day – as well as letting their creativity shine. As an Atlanta wedding photographer, I love to capture couples in beautiful, historic places like this. See more of our Atlanta weddings on the blog!
