There’s something so chic about a downtown Atlanta wedding in the fall. Torey and David brought classic romance to every detail of their wedding day, and a little sparkle too! From the historic architecture of the ceremony church, to the exposed brick of the reception venue, the backdrop for their wedding day was full of character and charm.
Torey and David met on the first day of college and after some time as friends, began dating in their junior year. The decided to move from DC to Atlanta together, the downtown Atlanta area became their new home. Having spent so many years together in downtown, Terminus 330 felt like the perfect space for their wedding day.
Atlanta Catholic Wedding Ceremony
The couple chose The Shrine of Immaculate Conception for their downtown Atlanta wedding ceremony. Fun fact: it’s the oldest church in Atlanta and one of the oldest still-standing buildings. The church was completed in 1837 and boasts beautiful architecture and perfect nooks for couples portraits.
The couple shared how including kids into the wedding day was important to them:
“We made the decision early on to plan a kid-friendly wedding that reflects our own desire to start a family one day. We didn’t just allow kids to come, we also wanted to incorporate them throughout the day. At the mass we had a presentation to Mary where all of the kids could bring up flowers to me and David and we laid them at the foot of the Mary statue.”
Downtown Atlanta Wedding Reception
Torey and David’s families traveled from various points of the country (and some even traveled internationally!), so the wedding day was particularly special in that both families came together to celebrate. The couple shares how they were pleasantly surprised how great everyone got along:
“It was fun to take moments to look around and see a Philadelphia cousin talking to a Florida cousin, or to see one of our friends spinning David’s mom around the dance floor. We love reliving those little moments because they mean so much to us!”
Toward the end of the night, it was time for a glittery surprise! Torey changed into her sparkly sequin dress and sneakers, and we headed to the rooftop for some more photos set against the downtown Atlanta skyline. Guests had a fun time on the dance floor and the night ended with an amazing sparkler send off!
